Artweeks 2016 Activities and Attractions

Activities, Workshops and Demos

The exact content of what will be on offer at the Hackspace for Artweeks 2016 is still being planned.

We do know that there will be a mixture of technical and crafty offerings, with some demonstrations of tools, tours of the facility, and hands-on workshops and/or exhibits.

Some activities and talks that we've held in the past include: light painting, soldering and circuit board making, cidermaking and tasting, open source architecture, introduction to programming, cybersecurity 101, and more.

There will be activities pitched to all ages and stages, so do come along and check out what the Hackspace resource in the centre of Oxford can offer you, your family, and/or your business!

Parking and Accessibility

Yes! The Hackspace is accessible to those with disabilities (please phone 01865 261462 to be let in the building's main entrance.)

No, unfortunately there is no parking on-site for the public other than two disabled spaces that must be booked in advance (sorry, building rules).

Please call us on 01865 261462 ahead of time to book these spaces if you need them, but be aware that there can sometimes be competition for them. If so, there are usually parking spaces around the corner on Tidmarsh Lane, and there is free parking for the general public on Beckett St., a short walk away, or paid parking within sight of the building doors, at the bottom of New Road.

Who We Are

Oxford Hackspace, or Oxhack for short, is an open-access community workspace and workshop which also runs a prototyping service for small businesses in central Oxford.

Open nearly every day from 10am to 10pm (see oxhack.org for hours), with prototyping technicians on site most days and a vibrant members community of technical, crafty, and educational people, we seek to make Oxford awesome by improving skills, opportunities, and quality of life one citizen at a time.

In 2015 we began a long-term sponsorship by The Oxford Trust, a charity established by Sir Martin and Lady Audrey Wood to support business creation and science education in Oxford.

Basically, we provide space and tools for people to do DIY manufacturing, get training in tool use, build things for work or pleasure, work quietly, meet and collaboarate with others, run and attend workshops in a vast array of subjects from cybersecurity to open-source architecture to shoemaking to light-painting, and more. We are a community who seeks to support makers and personal agency first and foremost, and we are friendly and have refreshments, so join us any time we are open to meet the group. ;)
